Everyone thinks that by using Cloud Hosting we increase the security risk but it's not completely true. When using cloud hosting or dedicated hosting if you don't take your security seriously, the results will be the same. Therefore, whichever hosting you are using, it is advisable to tighten up security level.

Yes cloud hosting safe, but you can not always depend on them as there may be some issue which is not expected. It is always good to have your own local backup and disaster recovery backup.
