Many people wonder - Reseller hosting or Shared hosting- Which one is better to choose? This can be better understood if each term is clearly understood first. Shared hosting accounts come with one C-panel and are for one owner only. The user can host unlimited domains on a shared plan by adding the additional domains to the “Addon Domains” section of the C-Panel. However, reselling is not allowed on shared hosting plans. Reseller Hosting accounts are for one user who wants to resell hosting and act like their own hosting company. Depending on the choice of reseller plans, the user can have C-Panel accounts ranging between 10 and 250. They can also set up each domain name with its own C-Panel.

The factors that can help a user decide which of the two is better for their purposes are - how does the user plan to provide access to others and how mission-critical the sites are. The user will also have to consider how resource intensive the sites would be, who would be managing the sites, how vital is site security between these sites, and if the domains would require dedicated SSLs.

Basically, shared plans are excellent for a single person managing multiple personal domains while reseller plans are perfect for those wanting to host websites for sub-clients.

These are two different types of server hosting plans. Usually, a shared environment for hosting is not the one you would like to have if you are planning on reselling hosting space and bandwidth. A shared account is basically used mainly for hosting blogging websites, personal websites and small business sites. If the user are selling hosting services, then they will have to purchase a reselling plan from a hosting provider so that they reap the benefits of billing software, white label service and overselling enabled. Moreover, these services even let the user to resell hosting services with all the benefits of appearing to be your own hosting company.

Regarding access to the shared resources, I completely agree with you... I've complained many times that the people with the free software having something the paid customers don't have is totally backward and wrong.
