Network throughput is a method of measuring the units of information that a system can perform within a stipulated time frame. It is considered as an evaluation of the capabilities of the large computers that run several programs simultaneously. The measurements could be applied to know the speed at which a certain workload is completed and the amount of time that the system takes to respond to a visitor request.

Throughput is another term for bandwidth. It determines the volume of information that can be passed through your network at one time. Researches have confirmed that many organizations have been hesitant to adopt cloud computing because of the higher bandwidth it requires. Cloud providers offer throughputs of about 300 megabits per second and this may surpass the requirements of a software application. But some applications like video data, IOT devices, big data systems may need more throughput for getting the best results. So the amount of network throughput that is required varies on the cloud server flavor that you adopt.
