A managed dedicated server is one where some of the functions relating to administration of the account are the responsibility of the hosting company. Depending on the type of managed dedicated hosting plan you have chosen, you can expect services such as operating system updates, faster customer support, greater security, monitoring, control panel. Also, some of the managed hosting plans may enable the customer to have an account manager. Also, there would be services such as management of firewalls, anti virus, installation, and assessment and maintenance services for the server. Quicker replacement of hardware is another reason to choose a managed server.
