When you purchase a dedicated server, it comes with all the requisite software preinstalled. CloudOYE will give you a list of software that comes by default. To get the maximum benefits, you must optimize the server making a few amendments to the default settings.

1. Security policies: With a dedicated server, you have root access and you must decide on the levels of user access and the security restrictions that you want to apply. Ask for assistance to the CloudOYE support team to set up IP based restrictions for Plesk, WHM, and SSH panel logins. You must disable unused ports, services, susceptible PHP and System functions. Configure the password strength and expiration policy. Create firewalls, tune the malware and antivirus as per your application needs and restrict users from overriding PHP config values in the php.ini and .htaccess files.

2. Backup and recovery: Configure any of the data backup services that have been agreed upon and let our support team set up the backup at periodic intervals for all user data and system config files. Configure both local and remote backup options for more safety.

3. CPU and RAM resource optimization: Configure the LAMP settings using the README and ensure the server atmosphere is compatible with the CMS you are customizing.

4. E-mail server and IP address reputation: Provide us with complete details for e-mail configuration- Reverse DNS entry, SMTP authentication, SPF record, Domain keys, option to unsubscribe for users etc.

5. Software updates, security patches, upgrades: Turn On the automatic updates/upgrades, maintain latest versions of PHP, MySQL, Apache etc.

6. Maintenance: Inform your clients about the maintenance schedules. Plan your maintenance at off-peak hours and host a service update remotely.

7. Nameservers & Hostname: Your server must have a valid FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) with an fitting RDNS ( Reverse DNS) record. With a proper hostname, you can maintain a positive IP address reputation.
