IaaS (infrastructure as a service) has come as a boon to majority of businesses. Traditional IT services requires an organization to procure and deploy hardware every few years considering wear & tear and depreciation. Similarly, software upgrades have to be done and in many cases licenses have to be purchased. The IaaS service provider offers all the infrastructure over internet at a fixed monthly cost without the users having to purchase any expensive data center infrastructure or services. They take virtual servers on rent.

Traditional IT services will need the organizations to invest on professionally capable in-house technical support team. The team has to be proficient with latest technologies or an organization will have to depend on the service provider to extend technical support at an additional fee. The IaaS provider takes responsibility of the management and monitoring of the hardware and provides all software upgrades.

The organization will need to pay for power and power backup solutions. Data protection is critical. Any hardware failure or natural disasters can bring a business to standstill and need them to rebuild all over again. The IaaS provider charges on basis of pay-for-what -you-use model and ensures power redundancy. IaaS offers more cost-effective disaster recovery solutions.
