Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) along with Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) is one of the three fundamental service models of cloud computing.Similar to any other cloud computing model, It is a form of cloud computing that offers computational resourcesin a virtualised environment over the Internetto support enterprise operations In an IaaS model, a third-party provider offers virtual server space, hardware, software, servers, bandwidth, IP address, etcstorage and other infrastructure components through its own series of interconnected physical severs spread across different data centres. The primary advantage of such a platform is the high level of scalability offered by it. Resources are provided on-demand basis making it highly suitable for temporary, fluctuating or experimental workloads. Infrastructure as a Service could be considered to be the very base on which cloud computing stands. Rather than investing in building IT hardware and expensive data centres, organizations are offered the freedom to rent space in a virtual data centre from an IaaS provider who provides the requisite resources through internet. This type of cloud computing ensures that the end usersonly pay for the computational resources they demand and consume like CPU cores, RAM, hard disk or storage space and network bandwidth among other things. |
