Cloud is a combination of technologies. This technology makes up a network. This network is popularly known as Cloud.

The major part of Cloud is virtual. The only tangible part of Cloud is the network of number of server machines, which is necessary to form the Cloud network and make it work. Every physical server in the network may have a distinct and different function. But it is within the wholeness of the network system. All servers join together to form a Cloud network.

The servers in the Cloud network having different functions. Some of the servers in the network, are using computer power to run online applications. Some of the servers are having functions to provide a service, such as web hosting. There are some servers, which are used only for storing data. The different functions of the servers in the Cloud network, determine the layer of the Cloud, where that particular server can be located.

There Are Three Layers In A Cloud Network:

1. The first layer of Cloud is Infrastructure. This layer is physical and tangible. It has hardware. It comprises of the server machines, the network cables and the capacity for storage, with storage blocks.

2. The second layer in Cloud is Platform. These platforms are those locations, where the files are stored. The identities are managed here with execution of files. In fact, the platform is the layer where all data is gathered and managed.

3. The third layer in a Cloud network is Applications. This is hosted by the platform layer. The platform layer can host applications for system management, content management, collaboration finance or communication etc.

The Service Models of Cloud:

Cloud Offers Different Types Of Services. They Are:

Infrastructure as a Service or IaaS, which is the most basic service model. This service provides its users with remote network of servers, necessary hardware and the capacity for storage.

Platform as a Service or PaaS, which allows the customers opportunity to build, run and manage applications all by themselves.

Software as a Service or SaaS, which is the largest Cloud market. Here ready to use applications are offered through a Cloud platform.
