kompoZer

KompoZer is a comprehensive web authoring system that integrates web file management and easy to use WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) web page editing. The software is an easy to use free and open source application and does not require the users to be technically competent or have any major knowledge of HTML or web coding. KompoZer is a spin-off from Mozilla and uses its Composer codebase.

Features of KompoZer:

• The software is meant not only for beginners but it is a powerful application that is used by advanced and experienced users too.

• Users can edit and write HTML tags. It colors the HTML tags and number the code lines. It becomes easier for the users to read and understand the code.

• KompoZer offers easy to use web tools to build advanced web projects. It comes with a built-in FTP client to uploads pages on to the web server.

• Its toolbar buttons let the users add lists, tables, images, links to other pages, colors and font styles.

• Its CSS Wizard tool makes creating CSS Stylesheets a simple and fast process.

• It does not require much resources and is far more affordable than many of the other alternative website editors.

• KompoZer Portable is a web editor that comes with a PortableApps.com launcher. It can be placed on USB flash drive, iPod portable hard drive or on a CD and used on any computer.

KompoZer is a GTK application that has been a popular website builder but unfortunately there has been no development of the application since its last update in 2010. Although it still can be used to build sites, there are several new website builders that have come up that are more simple and easier to use. The software was first developed by Fabien Cazenave.
