Network operation center is a centralized location from where the network administrators monitor, supervise and manage the entire telecommunication networks. The basic idea behind it is to maintain a smooth network operation across the various sources of communication channels. They are on the vigil for any alarms or power failures that could create issues in the network performance.

The network operation center abbreviated as NOC and pronounced as knock has capabilities of analyzing the problems and performs troubleshooting by coordinating with the site technical crew and monitoring the issues till they are resolved. The NOC is the central focal point for network troubleshooting, software updates and distribution, router updates and domain name management and performance monitoring by coordinating with other affiliated networks. In case any issue is not resolved within the stipulated timeframe by the lower technical team it is handed over to the next level for faster solutions. NOC is widely used by most of the web hosting companies and Internet service providers to control and manage the communication network.
