Re:dash refers to an open-source platform for data collaboration which allows you to get connected to any data sources and visualize it as well as share it. Before Re:dash, traditional BI suites had to be employed and this led to technically-challenged tools; so Re:dash was basically built to enable quick and simple access to many records which users can process and collect through the Amazon RedShift. Now, Re:dash enjoys support for querying many databases such as RedShift, Google Spreadsheets, Google BigQuery, MySQL and custom scripts.
Re:dash comprises of two sections, namely the Query Editor and Dashboards. This allows the users to shared data within an organization in an open manner, through sharing both data sets and queries which generated them. When you have a data set, it is possible to create various visualizations from it and to combine these different visualizations to get one dashboard. Re:dash is basically a work in progress; it still needs to go a long way to realize its complete potential. While the Query Editor portion is solid, the visualizations require more work for making them user-friendly.
