The amount of data that is transmitted over a network from one point to another in a certain period of time is termed as bandwidth. It could also be referred as the amount of data transmitted from a website to a visitor’s device in a specific time generally per second. It is expressed as bits (binary digit) per second (bps) or megabits per seconds (mbps). The speed of any upload or download from the internet will depend on the size of the bandwidth. The higher the bandwidth faster will be the upload. A website’s bandwidth is generally calculated based on the content size that it has and the traffic it generates in a day. A high traffic website with large content with images and video will need high bandwidth. A high bandwidth can easily manage any volume of traffic without compromising on speed. A low bandwidth on the other hand can slow down the performance.
