Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is the swing of the magic wand to the world. It is best compared to the discovery of fire and wheel by mankind. In the modern times, the invention of cloud computing, an upcoming giant of ICT, has transformed the way we come about in our daily life. Apart from all the business jargons and the number game, cloud hosting has opened up an immense scope in the developmental activities of the society.
The International Day of People with Disability as promoted by the United Nations (UN) is observed on the third day of December 03 every year. In this regard, The UN had themed the year 2006 around E-Accessibility to the differently and specially - abled of the world. Although the concept of cloud hosting was in gestation period in 2006 but the UN's theme for 2013 holds much to think about - "Break Barriers, Open Doors: for an inclusive society and development for all". In a report released by the United Nations, it has enumerated that around 15% of the globe population or approximately over a billion in count live with some form of disability.
Cloud Hosting can play a very important role in the accomplishment of this objective. Around the globe, educating the differently abled or teaching them to express their thoughts is truly a big deal of task. There is not much material or research that goes into it. However, the teaching and orientation task can be done through cloud computing.
It happens at most of the time that although there are good intended groups or people who wish to contribute to this uphill task but have mere means to do so. The differently abled bunch of people can be brought to a normal life style by extending education and training to them. But that can be done less with the regular books and hard copies of training materials. To communicate the ideas to such a group, we need something apart from the traditional practices such as audio, visual, audio -visual, sensory etc.
The next hurdle will be to win over the remoteness of the different geographical conditions. Suppose, a certain region in India might not even have a school but would that mean that they will be deprived of their opportunities to a better life? At this juncture, cloud hosting holds the key. The service of that region will be instrumental to stream the knowledge content and other training material through a tablet or other device connected to the Internet.
The scope of cloud hosting is indefinite but depends on the way the industry wishes to tweak its services. As far as the social responsibility goes, cloud hosting can be helpful to us than ICT has been ever before. The way ahead is long but smooth. It is just about the renewed commitments.
