Internet engineering task force (IETF) is a large body of network operators, designers, researchers, service providers and everybody connected with evolution and functioning of the Internet. The mission of the IETF is to work towards making make Internet cleaner and better for the users. They provide highly relevant and top quality technical documentation. Anybody can join in the working process, ask for what is decided and offer their comments or opinions through RFCs (Requests for Comments).
IETF meets three times in a year. The members form working groups based on a particular subject into areas like security, transport, routing etc. The group is headed by Area Director (AD). The ADs are members of the Internet Engineering Steering Group(IESG) that regulates the IETF activities and administers rules and procedures. The Internet Architecture Board(IAB) supervises and arbitrates on appeals made against the IESG. There is a General Area Director(GAD) serves as the chairman of IETF and IESG.
