Multitenancy

Multi-tenancy is a platform where a single software application is available to multiple users. The users are not allowed to customize the software code. Multi-tenancy is very cost-effective as the software maintenance and development costs are split and shared among the multiple users. It also allows the provider to update the software only once instead of having to install in each computer as is the case in single tenancy. It also reduces the energy consumption. Multi-tenancy runs on a shared platform and every user can benefit from any new function that is introduced at the request of any one customer. The clients the scope of multi-tenancy has widened in cloud computing. It can be applied in all the three service platforms of IaaS, SaaS and PaaS. The services are accessible from remote locations as it does not require deployment on individual machines. A SaaS provider can install the software and give access to it to users from across any location. Cloud runs on virtualization which allows the users to be in isolation from each other maintaining their privacy.
