phpDocumentor

phpDocumentor is a tool written in PHP language that allows documentation generation directly from the PHP source code. The document generator allows the consumers to know more information about the functions that are embedded within the source code. The information is not limited to what they need and can be used from the interface. The document generator is not an alternative for the traditional documentation but is rather a supplement or a reference documentation.

It contains a very friendly and flexible template system that allows the users to amend the output in any way they prefer. They are permitted to use their own brand for the HTML output which is possible by altering a couple of CSS files. The phpDocumentor 2 has the capability to extract the information and present it in graphs and report forms. phpDocumentor can be used to get directly from the command line. The software can be installed in three ways 1] Via PEAR, 2] Via Composer and 3] Using PHAR.

The users have to note that the phpDocumentor must be installed in a path without spaces. There will be several warnings coming when there are spaces while installing. phpDocumentor was initially released in March 2012 and phpDocumentor 2 was released in July 2015. PhpDocumentor requires the user to have PHP5.5 version or higher.
