Public key encryption is one of the keys used in cryptography. It is the common way of sending secured messages while it is decrypted with a private key by the recipient. The public key alone can be used to send encrypt the messages but it cannot be used to decrypt the message. The public key is published and available to everyone but the content can only be read with the private key.
One of the widely used public key encryption method is the Pretty Good Privacy(PGP). It is a highly secure system that allows encryptions of almost all types of messages. It is very effective in transmitting data over the internet without being intercepted by fraudsters. The sender encrypts the message with a symmetric key which is again encrypted with the public key of the receiver who uses the private key to decrypt the symmetric key. The public key encryption requires digital certification if it is to be used for web servers.
