AWS Hosted Zone is a collection of resource records managed and hosted by the Amazon Route S3. It contains complete information on how to route traffic for a particular domain and all the subdomains associated with it. The hosted Zone is similar to the traditional DNS zone file and indicates the resource record set that is managed collectively under one single domain name. Each hosted zone has its individual configuration and metadata information.
To create hosted zones, users need to sign up or login to their Amazon AWS account. Select MyAccount/Console > Select AWS Management Console>Route S3.
Click on Create Hosted Zone Tab. Write a domain name and a comment in the respective domain name and comment fields. Press on Submit or Create button. Move to the Go to Records Sets. There are 2 types of record sets -NS Type and SOA Type. Create a new Record Set selecting Create Record Set.
Enter a host name and the type of Record Set. Click and save the record set. This creates a hosted zone in the AWS Route S3 for you. You can also migrate records from one hosted zone to another. Same way, you can migrate a hosted zone from one AWS account to a different account.
