A community cloud is a multi-tenant infrastructure that offers a cloud computing solution to a limited number of users or organizations that is administrated, managed and secured commonly by all the participating organizations or a third party source. Community cloud is a hybrid structure of private clouds which are built and operated particularly for a targeted group. These communities boast similar cloud requirements and their ultimate goal is to work together to achieve their business aspects.
Community cloud is established for businesses and organizations that are prolifically working on joint projects, applications and research, which entails a central cloud computing service for building, managing and executing such joint ventures. For example, such projects and applications might be related to regulatory compliance (such as audit requirements¸ performance requirements related to hosting applications)that needs quick response time. It can be either on-premises or off-premises, governed by the participating organizations or an outsourcing partner.
