Colocation server hosting is a hosting service offered by a data center, in which the company leases space and provides a housing facility for the servers. The customer owns the server and has full authority over the hardware and software stored in the data center. However, the storage facility provider is responsible for maintaining a secure server environment. Colocation services should not be confused with cloud services. In colocation hosting, the customer owns the hardware and leases the space while in cloud services they do not have their hardware, they lease it from the provider. Colocation hosting is also different from the managed dedicated service because the data center also assumes management and maintenance of the servers. With colocation hosting, the customers are the ones who are responsible for supplying, maintaining, and managing their servers
