How to Build Your Own Cloud Storage Server?
You might be an enthusiastic techie eager to do experiments or you may want to host your personal applications in a private cloud environment. CloudOYE can assist to identify the right tools to build your personal cloud.
Sign up with CloudOYE filling up details like Username and Password. The CloudOYE support executive will come online and ask a few questions. Type "I wish to create a private cloud". Fill up details such as User Name, Registered Email, contact details, and any other. Your account will be instantly activated.
Get the Web Installer
Get ownCloud the open source cloud storage tool. Download and install the server-side software which will be setup-owncloud.php.
Get SFT
Step 1: Download WinSCP to create Secure File Transfer (SFT). Visit the winscp.net to download the WinSCP. It is an opensource SFTP, Web DAV, SCP, FTP client for Microsoft Windows. It functions as a secure file transfer between two computers (a local and a remote server).
Step 2: Installation is simple. Click on Accept and then keep clicking Next. In the last, select Install. Uncheck both the boxes & don't launch the Program.
Connect via SFTP to the Server
Create a connection between the server and WinSCP.
Step 1: Click Open the WinSCP.
Step 2: Go to CloudOYE. Copy and Paste the IP Address in the hostname of the WinSCP. Fill the Username and Password which you had created earlier.
Host Name is Your IP Address.
Server name is the User ID. The password will be different. You must save it in a secure place.
Step 3: Log In To Your Account.
Step 4: A warning will flash on the screen. Accept by clicking on Yes and continue.
Step 5: The WinSCP is ready. Next, open the Application Folder and look for the Public_html folder. You can either copy & paste the setup-owncloud.php or drag and drop the same.
Step 6: Click ok to save and confirm the changes to the path and close WinSCP.
Install ownCloud
Step 1: Open the browser. Enter your IP/ setup-owncloud.php.
Step 2: Visit setup wizard page, select next.
Step 3: Go to the Dependency page, continue with the default name or create a name.
Step 4: Create an account to access your server after the ownCloud is installed.
Step 5: Retype the Username and Password to access ownCloud server. Login to your server.
Set up the Desktop Client in Windows
To sync your files & have access, create backups of your files or data use the App. it saves you plenty of time.
Step 1: Go to the OwnCloud.org and download the Desktop Client software for Your Own Operating system.
Step 2: Use the following process to set up the Desktop Client.
- Enter the IP address/ Name of the Server on the Connect to OwnCloud Page. Or you can enter the Information As a customer.
- If you are on a Windows server, confirm the certification for Windows or you will not be allowed to use the App in Windows. - Insert your User Name & Password for OwnCloud Server that you had created after the install of OwnCloud.
- Customize your settings for synchronizations.
