It's recommended not to reboot your server frequently as it may cause harm to your server. However, sometimes, you may need to restart your server for installation or configuration purpose.
There are two options for rebooting dedicated server via WHM (Web Host Manager) - Forceful Server Reboot and Graceful Server Reboot. Later is the recommended option, wherein the reboot will be queued, and the server will be started when all active services are stopped working.
Let's Walk-Through the Process Involved to Reboot Your Dedicated Server via WHM
1. Log in to Your WHM Account-
Generally the URL is: https://servername.yourhostname.com/whm
OR https://your.server.ip.address/whm
Enter 'root' as the username and then the root password for your dedicated server, then click on 'Log in'.
2. Type 'Reboot' in the Search Field for Different System Reboot Options- Two options-Forceful Server Reboot and Graceful Server Reboot will appear.
3. Select Graceful Server Reboot- This may shut down all services before rebooting the server.(But if there is a heavy load on the server, the Graceful Reboot might not be sufficient. In the case, you're advised to use the Forceful Server Reboot option.)
4. Click 'Proceed'- This will start the reboot process by shutting down all services and then the operating system. Normally, this process takes about 10-20 minutes before all services on your server resume.
